Neighborhood School
Another important civic element is our school, which serves kindergarten through eighth grade. The Huntsville Board of Education worked tirelessly to develop a school that promotes the "neighborhood school concept" where children can actually walk to school. Designing Providence
Andres Duany and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, the husband and wife team of DPZ & Company, were commissioned by Slyman Development Company in 2002 to create the master plan for The Village of Providence. Founded in 1980, DPZ has designed more than one hundred new towns and revitalization projects for existing communities both in the United States and abroad. The town of Seaside, Florida, one of the firm's early projects and the first traditional town to be built since World War II, has been labeled by Time Magazine as "the development of the century."
